Does anyone have a recipe for whole grain bread?
I’m a nutrition student, so it’s important for me to eat whole grain bread when I make sandwiches. My mom usually does the shopping and buys the 100% whole multigrain bread from Costco but she’s kinda tired of it, so she bought a different whole grain bread but it doesn’t have as much nutritional value to it. I was wondering if anybody has a really good high fiber, nutritious recipe for a whole grain/wheat bread. Maybe something with nuts and seeds in it. I have a bread maker at home.
Easy Whole Grain Bread
Ingredients:
5 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup old fashioned oats
1/3 cup ground flax seeds (ground)
1/3 cup bulgur wheat
1/3 cup pearl barley
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3 cups water (total)
Steps:
1. In a small microwave safe bowl, mix the flax seed, bulgar wheat, and pearl barley. Add 1 cup of water, mix well, cover, and microwave on high for 3 minutes. When finished, set aside to cool while you mix the dry ingredients.
2. In a large mixing bowl, mix together flour, oats, salt, baking soda and baking powder.
3. Cut in/mix in the seeds/grains until well blended.
4. Add remaining 2 cups water and mix until well blended.
5. Bake in center of your oven at 400 for 45 minutes.
